Hoag Orthopedic Institute, the largest provider of joint replacement surgery in California, has announced a new partnership with Diagnostic and Interventional Surgery Center (“the Center”) in Marina Del Rey, California, marking its first expansion into Los Angeles County.

The Irvine-based Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI) and physician owners of the Center enter into this strategic equity partnership to deliver high value and integrated musculoskeletal care. The outpatient surgery center is located at 13160 Mindanao Way in Marina Del Rey, California. Terms of the partnership were not disclosed.

“We are excited about introducing HOI to the Los Angeles market alongside like-minded medical providers who share our entrepreneurial spirit and philosophy of value-based care with exceptional patient experience and high-quality outcomes,” said Jennifer Mitzner, president and CEO of Hoag Orthopedic Institute.

The surgeons and physicians with the Center perform minimally invasive spine, joint, foot and ankle, sports medicine and pain management procedures at the facility.

“The agreement with Hoag Orthopedic Institute was an ideal partnership for our spine and orthopedic surgeons,” said Sanjay Khurana, M.D., a spine surgeon and board member with the Center. “We are very pleased to join such a distinctive organization whose physician-led model of value-based patient care and operations has set a high bar for the betterment of patient care in all areas of orthopedics.”

Currently, Hoag Orthopedic Institute is comprised of an inpatient hospital in Irvine along with ambulatory surgery centers and clinics throughout Orange County. The new facility in Los Angeles is part of HOI’s expanded network of integrated orthopedic surgical and musculoskeletal care throughout Southern California, including orthopedic clinics and ambulatory surgery centers.
