Hear from Dr. Alan Beyer during Saturdays at Noon on AM 830 KLAA

Doctor in the Dugout is a one hour show hosted by Hoag Orthopedic Institute's Dr. Alan Beyer and runs on Saturdays. Featuring the Doctors' distinctive with and keen insights on sports, Doctor in the Dugout provides an entertaining twist on sports medicine-related topics and current injury reports, and features special guests and more.

In addition to baseball news, the Doctor in the Dugout radio program covers a variety of current events in the world of sports and sports medicine. Dr. Beyer answers questions sent in by email and fields calls from listeners. After baseball season, Doctor in the Dugout will air on Saturdays before football or hockey games. Alan H. Beyer, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery of the knee and total knee replacement. Dr. Beyer graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine. During his residency at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York, he became the Chief Resident of Orthopedics and completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic. His passion for sports influenced his decision to pursue this specialty and thus in a vocation where preserving an active lifestyle is a key focus.

2024 Show Information

November 2

John Vallely - UCLA legend who was an integral part of John Wooden's championship run from 1968-70. He was an All American in 1970 and drafted in the first round by the Atlanta Hawks. His book, The Pyramid Principle, is John's story of his triumphs and heartbreaks.

November 9

Joe Valerio- Former NFL offensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Rams. He caught an NFL-record four touchdown passes for the Chiefs, three of them thrown by Joe Montana. Joe started at every position in the offensive line during his career and went on to be a sports anchor in Kansas City and hosted a two-hour post-game talk show on a local radio station for several years after retiring.

November 16

Jeff Moorad- Sports agent and former CEO and minority owner of the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres.

November 23

Jim Kaveney- Former crew member at Mercyhurst University and health advocate. Jim was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation at 38. Now, his mission is to spread awareness about heart health. In 2024, he launched a new biotechnology company to help Afib patients manage their care and lifestyle.
