Hoag Orthopedic Institute Named ‘Highest-Rated Hospital’ for Knee and Hip Surgery by Consumer Reports

HOI One of Only Eight Hospitals in California to Earn Top Rating for Hip and Knee Replacements

IRVINE, Calif. [August 1, 2016] – Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI), one of the largest providers of orthopedic care in the nation, has been named a Consumer Reports ‘Highest-Rated Hospital’ for knee and also hip surgery for 2016, making it one of only eight hospitals in California to be recognized. Consumer Reports’ knee and hip surgery ratings are part of an ongoing effort to use the best available data to help consumers compare hospital performance and make informed choices about their health care.

The hospital is one of only 34 hospitals, in 20 states, to earn the highest rating for hip surgery and one of 128 hospitals, in 34 states, to receive the honor for knee surgery.

Consumer Reports rates hospitals based on how well their patients fare during and after elective surgery, including hip and knee replacements. The ratings are based on billing data of a hospital’s Medicare patients.
