IRVINE, Calif. - Robert S. Gorab, M.D., Chief Medical Officer at Hoag Orthopedic Institute, was recently named one of the top 26 knee surgeons in the United States by Orthopedics This Week. He was the only surgeon in Southern California to be honored with this peer-nominated designation.

Information was obtained via telephone survey of key leaders in the field of orthopedics. Preeminent knee surgeons from across the U.S. anonymously cast their votes for the best orthopedic surgeons in their respective subspecialty.

"He is a very gifted clinician who is meticulous with his technique and understands and applies the principles of knee surgery," said one anonymous surgeon. "He doesn't use a cookbook approach, but instead individualizes treatment based upon patient needs and presentation."

According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, back and knee injuries are the most prevalent musculoskeletal impairments, with approximately 12 million visits made to physicians’ offices due to knee problems in 2006.

Dr. Gorab is a board certified orthopedic surgeon practicing in Orange County, California. He is currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer of Hoag Orthopedic Institute and he specializes in joint replacement and arthritis surgery, performing more than 550 joint replacement procedures per year.

Orthopedics This Week is one of the most widely read publication in the orthopedics industry reaching approximately 250,000 clinicians, nurses, administrators, staff, suppliers, manufacturers, scientists, sales people, regulators, investors and consultants with the latest breaking orthopedic news.
