Hoag Orthopedic Institute’s Surgery Center in Orange is pleased to announce it has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers for Orthopedics & Spine. The Orange Surgery Center is one of five that HOI operates in southern California.

Ambulatory surgery centers were evaluated based entirely on objective, risk-adjusted measures of their patients’ outcomes, including how successfully they avoided complications, ER visits, unplanned hospitalizations, and other undesirable outcomes. Nearly 5,000 surgery centers were rated and fewer than 15% of those evaluated facilities earned a “High Performing” rating.

“Being recognized in the inaugural ratings of the Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers is a testament to our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional patient care and innovative surgical solutions,” said Kim Mikes, CEO of HOI, one of the largest providers of orthopedic care in the nation. “We are incredibly proud of this achievement and remain committed to advancing the quality of healthcare for our patients and the communities we serve.”

In 2019, Hoag Orthopedic Institute introduced its “HOI Signature Experience” initiative to enhance the experience for patients and visitors alike. HOI has some of the highest quality scores based on the most common reporting metrics but is focused on creating a truly unique experience for its patrons.

“Same-day procedures play an increasingly prominent role in health care as an alternative to overnight hospital care. Building on our 34 years of experience evaluating Best Hospitals, we’re proud to give patients this new, free, data-driven tool to help them navigate their health care needs,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News.

Hoag Orthopedic Institute, the highest volume provider of joint replacements in the western United States, has received consistent recognition from various publications and health care organizations for its patient-focused services since opening in 2010, including topping the U.S. News Best Hospitals List in 2023-2024; 2022-2023; 2021-2022; 2020-2021; 2019-2020; 2018-2019; 2017-2018; 2013-2014 and 2012-2013.
