Bio
Dr. Philip A. Robinson is an infectious disease specialist with more than 35 years of experience in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases. He is board certified in Infectious Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and a Past President of the Infectious Disease Association of California.
Dr. Robinson serves as Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Hospital Epidemiology and as Chair of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian and Hoag Orthopedic Institute. He is a member of the medical staff at Hoag Hospital Newport Beach, Hoag Hospital Irvine, and Hoag Orthopedic Institute.
An active clinical researcher, Dr. Robinson has served as principal investigator on more than 30 infectious disease clinical trials. In partnership with Hoag's clinical research program, his research spans infection prevention, antimicrobial stewardship, vaccine development, laboratory diagnostics, and therapeutics.
Dr. Robinson earned his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in infectious disease at the University of Southern California/LAC+USC Medical Center.
