About Dr. Nicholas J. Wegner

Dr. Nicholas Wegner is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship trained in foot and ankle surgery. He is originally from Omaha, Nebraska and completed his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering. While there, he was awarded a prestigious research fellowship at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic and the universities highest honor for his academic achievements, leadership, and commitment to service, the Order of the Laurel and the Palm.

He received his Medical Degree from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. After medical school, Dr. Wegner completed five years of orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Washington, one of the top-rated training programs in the county and home to Harborview Medical Center, one of the country’s busiest trauma centers.

Dedicated to staying at the forefront of medicine, Dr. Wegner then pursued additional training in foot and ankle surgery, completing his fellowship at the University of Utah under renowned foot and ankle surgeons, Dr. Timothy Beals and Charlie Saltzman. While there he focused on complex reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle such as ankle replacements, ankle instability, foot and ankle trauma, sports medicine, and minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery.

Dr. Wegner spent the past eight years practicing medicine in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. While there, he trained the University of Nebraska orthopedic surgery residents on their foot and ankle rotation and became a team physician for Creighton University, one of the Big East’s elite basketball and volleyball programs. He also became one of the premier foot and ankle specialists specializing in minimally invasive surgery, including bunion correction, hammer toe repair and fusion procedures.

Dr. Wegner currently lives in in Irvine with his wife, Krystal, and two daughters. He has recently become an expert in all things Harry Potter and Wild Kratts, which his two girls love. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, running, and skiing. He is an avid fan of college basketball and is still a diehard USC football fan.
