Michael J. Nieto, MD

About Dr. Michael J. Nieto

Dr. Nieto is a fellowship-trained Primary Sports Medicine Doctor. He cares for athletes from elementary school age through adulthood. He specializes in non-operative sports medicine including peripheral joints (shoulder, elbow, hand, hip, knee, ankle etc.), lower back, concussion management as well as nerve blocks. He utilizes both ultrasound and fluoroscopic techniques to help patients return to the lifestyle that the desire.

Dr. Nieto grew up in Southern California and played Division I baseball at Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, California. He went to the University of Iowa Medical School and completed a Pediatrics Residency at the University of Minnesota. Following residency, Dr. Nieto obtained additional training in Sports Medicine at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. During his fellowship, he was responsible to covering all Division I athletes at Texas Christian University (TCU) in the Big 12 and Texas Wesleyan football. He also served as the team doctor for Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School football. Some of his favorite events that he has covered include; NCAA College World Series Baseball Regionals, USA Junior National Volleyball, International Youth Soccer Championship, Collegiate Track and Field, Golden Gloves boxing, rodeo and road bike racing.

In his free time Dr. Nieto enjoys spending time with his wife and young son. He enjoys mountain biking, snowboarding, and trail running.
