Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI), one of the largest providers of orthopedic care in the nation, is the only hospital in Orange County to be named a ‘2025-2026 Best Hospital’ for orthopedics by U.S. News & World Report. This is the 9th consecutive year that HOI has been nationally ranked and received this designation.

In addition to this distinction, U.S. News has also recognized HOI as “High Performing” in all eligible categories: Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement, Hip Fracture and Back Surgery (Spinal Fusion) for 2025-2026. HOI physicians perform the highest volume of hip, knee and shoulder replacement surgeries in the Western United States and the most spine surgeries in Orange County. The HOI expert team uses the latest surgical techniques, including anterior hip replacement, robotic surgery and other innovative surgical procedures to give patients a 5-star experience.

“This recognition by U.S. News & World Report is a testament to the exceptional dedication, skill and collaboration of our physicians, nurses and care teams,” said HOI CEO Kim Mikes, MBA, RN. “To be named among the best hospitals in the nation for orthopedics, and to receive high performance ratings across multiple procedures, reflects our unwavering commitment to delivering world-class orthopedic care and outstanding patient outcomes.”

The annual “Best Hospitals” rankings and ratings, now in their 36th year, are designed to assist patients in making informed decisions about where to receive care for health conditions and elective procedures. With more than one million Americans receiving joint replacements each year, and millions more receiving other orthopedic and spine surgeries, those in pain can use these rankings in identifying the highest performing hospitals and physicians.
