About Dr. Daniel J. Gittings

Dr. Daniel Gittings is an Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Hand Surgery in Orange County, California. He specializes in comprehensive fingertip to shoulder musculoskeletal care and is experienced treating both upper and lower extremity trauma. He cares for adult and pediatric patients with degenerative, traumatic, and congenital conditions affecting peripheral nerves and brachial plexus, blood vessels, tendons, ligaments, bones, and joints.

Dr. Gittings graduated from Providence College summa cum laude, with the highest grade point average in his concentration, double majoring in both Biology and Chemistry. During medical school at Boston University, Dr. Gittings was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and graduated cum laude.

While at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Gittings excelled in providing high quality patient care and was selected by Penn’s world renowned faculty to serve as a Chief Resident, a leader of his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency. During his time at Penn, Dr. Gittings also served as the Editor in Chief of the University of Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Journal. Additionally he was awarded multiple grants and a post-doctoral fellowship while becoming an expert at tendon injury and healing.

After becoming an Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Gittings also gained greater expertise in upper extremity surgery. During his Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship at the University of Southern California, Dr. Gittings refined his techniques while working with international experts in Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Neurosurgery.

Dr. Gittings is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has authored dozens of scientific papers and has presented his research at both national and international meetings.
