About Dr. Sunny C. Cheung

Dr. Sunny Cheung is a board certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in treating the shoulder, hip and knee through minimally invasive surgery such as arthroscopy and joint reconstruction. Dr. Cheung offers comprehensive orthopedic care to his patients in Newport Beach and neighboring cities within Orange County.

In addition to attending Harvard undergrad, he completed an orthopedic sports surgery fellowship at University of California, San Francisco where he gained expertise in performing minimally invasive surgeries for cartilage, tendon and ligament restoration.

Dr. Cheung has published his research in national and international publications, and he has written for orthopaedic textbooks both in the United States and internationally. He has also taken part in many research projects, and has presented his findings on rotator cuff pathology at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons annual meeting.

Dr. Cheung’s philosophy in treating most orthopedic conditions is that he will attempt to exhaust non-surgical treatment options before introducing surgical solutions. Nothing is more satisfying to him than seeing a patient recover from an orthopedic injury and he feels fortunate to be in a field where the technology exists to restore patients back to their full potential.
