Dr. Schwind is a board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in
disorders of the spine. He is fellowship trained in Orthopaedic Spine Surgery.
A native of northwest Ohio, he graduated summa cum laude from Bowling
Green State University, in Ohio, with a major in biology. He followed
this by earning his medical degree from The University of Toledo. Dr.
Schwind graduated with honors as Orthopaedic Student of the Year. He then
completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at The University of Toledo.
Subsequently, he completed an orthopaedic spine surgery fellowship at
the Hoag Orthopedic Institute.
Dr. Schwind has a strong academic background. He has published several
articles in peer-reviewed journals, and he was also a co-author for an
instructional video in the Orthopaedic Knowledge Online Journal, published
by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. In addition, he has presented
research at both regional and national scientific meetings.
Dr. Schwind is dedicated to providing highest standards in orthopaedic
spine care for all his patients. Not all conditions require surgery and
Dr. Schwind recommends surgery only after appropriate non-operative care
has been exhausted. He strives to educate patients and their families
about their respective conditions, and wants to empower patients to be
responsible “owners” of their spines. He is continually involved
in cutting-edge research to improve outcomes for his patients.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Schwind has a young, growing family. He enjoys
spending time with his wife Amanda, daughter Ava, and his dog, the Colonel.
He enjoys sports, and even played football at the collegiate level. His
hobbies include weight training, drawing, and acrylic painting.
